Filling Two Part Plastic Eggs for Easter

Approximately 80 million Easter Eggs are sold in the UK each year, that’s a lot of chocolate! Well, seeing as sales at Easter time make up 10% of UK chocolate spending for the whole year, it’s not surprising.

A large number of these chocolate eggs will be used as part of an Easter egg hunt and the most popular way to present them is in two part plastic eggs. We are frequently asked to give advice on the sizes of the two part fillable plastic Easter eggs that we sell and which chocolate eggs & treats will fit inside them, so here’s some hints and tips to help you out!

Which sized plastic egg should I use?

Our fillable plastic eggs are supplied in three sizes:

Mini plastic eggs – the pink one pictured. These are approximately 42mm tall and and 30mm wide.  They will hold a Cadburys foil wrapped mini egg, such as the Dairy Milk egg shown with a little gap around them. Our self inking stampers are too big to fit into these eggs.

Standard plastic eggs – the blue one shown.  If you are looking for eggs the size of the ones in your fridge, then this is what you will need, unless you keep ostrich eggs in your fridge of course!  58mm tall and 40mm wide, these will hold a Cadbury’s Creme Egg or similar with some wiggle room. You can fit one of our self inking stampers in these.

Large plastic eggs – the green egg in the picture.  75mm tall and 45mm wide, these will hold a full size Kinder Surprise Egg very snugly. You can fit two of our self inking stampers in these eggs.

Healthy Egg Fillers

For a healthier alternative to chocolate eggs you could fill your two-part eggs with any of the following toys and treats. Just make sure to measure your fillers before buying the eggs, or the other way around, so you know that your fillers will fit! You can see the size guide above for a general idea.
