6 Amazing Masquerade Mask Craft Ideas

We have created 6 amazing masquerade mask crafts perfect for seeing in the New Year and celebrations.

Historically Masquerade balls are costumed public festivities originating in Italy during the 16th century. They were elaborate dances held for members of the upper classes, and were particularly popular in Venice.

Beautifully decorated masks add an air of excitement to any party and we hope our masquerade mask craft ideas inspire you to add a little mystery to your celebrations!

1 Insect Inspired Mask – See idea

This jewelled monochrome mask takes inspiration from the insect world. We used a monochrome palette and embellished with self adhesive silver and black jewels to accentuate the mask shape.

2: Bird Inspired Mask – See idea

Our second idea is inspired by birds and features feathers, sequin strings and a feathered brow. This is a very creative look which would make anyone stand out at a masquerade ball, or look great hung on your home’s wall.

3: Flowers and Feather Monochrome Mask – See idea

This idea is great for relatively experienced crafters who may wish to try their hand at floristry crepe paper flowers. We used feathers and gem stones to compliment the flowers and complete our look.

Prize contents: We have five prizes of 1 x Handcrafted mask randomly picked from those pictured.

Entry closes at 12 am 22nd December 2016. Winner will be contacted by email within 7 days of competition end.

4: Beads and Buttons Mask – See idea

We created two monochrome masks and added beads and buttons for an unusual twist. After decopatching the paper mache masks we added some floristry crepe roses, tulle net, feathers, buttons and beads to create two distinctive looks.

5: Sequin Sparkle Mask – See idea

Our striped monochrome mask has extra bling created by adding sequin strings to the mask itself and the stick. A few extra feathers can be added for volume and impact.

6: Music Inspired Mask – See idea

Music was our inspiration for this monochrome mask, excellent for celebrations, a gift or as a home decoration. Using a paper mache mask and a music themed decopatch paper, this mask is a great craft project.

All of our mask craft ideas can be easily adapted to suit a theme or colour palette. Use them to wow friends and family at a celebration party, place them around your home as unusual decorations or give them as personalised gifts.
